State Cancer Profiles (Cancer Control P.L.A.N.E.T.)

About this Resource

State Cancer Profiles is one of the five major areas of the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Control P.L.A.N.E.T. (CCP) web site. It includes interactive graphs, maps, and support data on many different US cancer topics. Because SEER only collects its data from selected areas of the country*, your specific community may not be covered in the State Cancer Profiles. However, you may wish to explore its comprehensive tools to compare your area with other parts of the country.

*The data for these State Cancer Profiles comes from the SEER program (Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results), a premier source of cancer statistics in the United States. SEER collects cancer information from specific geographic areas representing 26 percent of the US population. These statistics are related to cancer:

  • incidence
  • prevalence
  • survival rates

SEER also compiles reports on cancer mortality for the entire country.
